DOWNSTREAM CIRCUIT - "THE PEOPLE" : Sport (SB20C)

Most sports originated in Britain and we have carried them around the world. Craftsmen at work.

"The British relish sport for its own sake, and for the sake of its open air setting. They are possesed of a gift for inventing their own games and for adapting other people's. They have also been adept, once a game has come their way, at working out the rules, regulations and manners which will suit it best. Once they have got a game codified, they have carried it with them overseas, where the people of other nations have found themselves solemnly playing it according to British rules.

Nature herself furnished the British Isles sumptuously with peerless games, and priceless country for field sports and riding. The tools and instruments of sport have for hundreds of years been developed and perfected by dedicated British craftsmen. All aspects of sport are illustrated in this Pavilion.

The Model Pool demonstrates yachts, ships and even hydroplanes of model size. In the Boat Pool small craft, such as punts, dinghies and rowing boats can be seen."
