DOWNSTREAM CIRCUIT - "THE PEOPLE" : Homes and Gardens (SB18)

Many people on a small island create an urgent problem of space. Here are new solutions for six such problems in the home.

"This Pavilion takes the problems of the past as read, and the visitor comes upon the British people in their homes-the homes of the present time. Here he finds himself face to face with one of the main problems of modern housing-space.

British designers have been concentrating on the many space problems created by the conditions in which we have to live nowadays. Of these, six in particular have been selected for new and practical solutions within this section of the Exhibition:- the child in the home, the bed-sitting room, the kitchen, hobbies and the home, home entertainment and the parlour.

Six groups of designers were chosen to study these problems and to offer practical solutions for them. The results of their work form the greater part of the displays in this Pavilion."
